Contemporary Pop-Up
The owner of this home on Madison’s east side felt the house had become too small for their growing family, but the location was unbeatable being within walking distance to the schools, annual neighborhood festivals and more. The existing house, being a one story, afforded the opportunity to add a large second floor to the building and completely change the style. Four bedrooms, a new bathroom and a kid’s hangout area are included in the new second floor addition, which is set back from the front wall of the house to meet zoning requirements. The shed-style roofs, the new siding and other details lend a more contemporary aesthetic to the home. The addition also freed up the first floor living spaces to expand into an existing bedroom and convert another existing bedroom to a home office.
This project was completed during my time at TDS Design Build. As the architectural designer and design lead for the project, I worked closely with the design team to develop the project for construction..
